Post #11 – We are all Born with Good and Bad – (Evil).

We are all born with the ability to be good or bad (evil) and which paths we choose to travel are up to us individually and I am writing this blog from a perspective of wanting to be on the path for good. There are many obstacles throughout life that we must overcome and if we let it happen those obstacles could either temporarily or permanently push us off of the path of good and onto the path of evil. I believe that with the proper guidance, knowledge, and support from our communities and families we can succeed at being a good person and stay on the right path. As a child from a dysfunctional family I do understand that some choices are made for us and not all of those choices are good ones such as being born into a dysfunctional family and all that that entails. But this does not mean that we should use this as an excuse to wallow in our sorrow, sadness, and anger over poor circumstances because there is always a way to find the good path verses staying on an evil path. Throughout our entire lives we will be course correcting our paths between good and evil and when we our on the wrong path but what do those paths look like.

Lets face it the path of bad (evil) is full of disappointment, bad choices, bad behaviors, anger, hate, weakness, and chaos. When we travel down the evil path we hurt others with our words and actions on a regular basis. We make often make bad choices based on instant gratification only to find out after the fact that the instant gratification is very short lived but the damage of the bad choices are forever.  We blame others for our failures, bad behaviors, and poor choices instead of taking responsible for them ourselves. We continue to make others miserable and bear our cross because misery loves company. Now if we choose to travel on the path of good we find laughter, kindness, hopefulness, love, peace, and strength. When our actions or words cause harm to others we are able to take responsibility by admitting we our wrong, apologizing, and asking or forgiveness. We too will be able to give forgiveness too. We will only blame ourselves for any shortcomings, unacceptable behaviors, or poor choices we make. But like I mentioned above we all travel on an off the good and evil paths throughout our entire lives but it is ultimately up to us as to which path we stay on for the better part of our lives. We all jump off of the good path even if just for a little while by making poor choices that hurt us or others. What steers back on the path of good is a course correction which is based on what we do with the outcome of those poor choices and whether or not we learn from and accept responsibility those poor choices.

Sometimes when we are on the wrong path we might need help with our course correction. As time goes on asking for help becomes easier and should never been seen as a sign of weakness but a sign of strength. A strength that comes from knowing and accepting that you are not perfect and that we all need to lean on one another from time to time. It is also knowing that we are all born with the same basic needs, emotions, feelings, and the ability to good or bad.
